Textile Roofs Workshop 2025

25th – 27th May 2025

27th edition

Workshop on the Design and the Practical Realisation of Architectural Membrane Structures.

Scientific Director : Prof. Rosemarie Wagner

Manager and Host : Dr.-Ing. Bernd Stary
CEO academus GmbH

Started in 1995, the Textile Roofs workshops will be held for the 27th time in Berlin, Germany. TR was created to bring together those involved in textile architecture and advance the practical implementation of membrane structures, a goal it has consistently upheld.

The international community of architects, engineers, scientists, industry professionals, and students come together to discuss real-world challenges and future developments in architectural membrane structures, sharing their knowledge for the future of textile architecture in one of the most prestigious events of its kind.

Alongside forward-thinking presentations on current solutions and developments, the workshop activities are a central part of Textile Roofs. Under expert guidance, participants will engage in discussions on the fundamental principles, complexities, and sustainability of tensile structures, as well as membrane materials with varying physical properties.

Particularly popular are the physical modelling of shell structures to understand form, forces, internal statics, and cutting patterns for membranes (using the latest tools), and computational modelling with the renowned Easy Software. Another key aspect is the collaborative construction of a real, iconic structure, using cutting-edge materials, technologies, and machinery provided by our partners.

The programme for TR25 also includes a visit to the Museum of Architectural Painting, a boat trip on the oldest tour boat on Berlin's rivers, the “Kaiser-Friedrich,” a barbecue in the Aedes garden, and much more.
